AskNicely is a survey tool focused specifically on helping organizations determine their Net Promoter Score and discover as much related information as possible.

Basically, AskNicely makes it incredibly easy for companies to deliver NPS surveys to customers, collect and organize their responses, and respond to them in a personal manner.

While the only required question for these surveys is “How likely are you to recommend (Brand Name) to a friend, family member, or colleague?”, users can also answer open-ended follow-up questions to generate more in-depth responses from their customers. AskNicely also allows for integration with over 20 other tools, including Hubspot, BigCommerce, and Groove. While the initial information gathered through NPS surveys is rather simple and straightforward, when coupled with previously-collected information, the insight provided from this “simple” survey can prove to be incredibly valuable.

Despite its simplicity, however, AskNicely does have a number of drawbacks.

For one, the tool isn’t nearly as intuitive as you might assume, with one user stating the software comes with “a lot of quirks.” Additionally, some users have found it difficult to comb through a collection of data in search of a specific response or piece of information.

Another area of concern is the pricing of AskNicely. While the company offers customized pricing for enterprise companies, the basic software costs $299 annually, or close to $25 per month. #7 – Google Forms

Oftentimes, listicles like this one save the best for last. This is not one of those times.

Surprisingly, Forms is one Google product that simply doesn’t measure up to other tools within the heralded G Suite collection.

Now, it’s not all bad. If you’re just getting the hang of creating forms and surveys, and don’t yet feel comfortable diving into a more robust solution, Google Forms can certainly act as a warmup.

With Forms, you can create basic surveys and forms for product feedback, event registration, collecting contact information, and more. As you receive responses from your audience, you can import the data into a Google Sheet (or other G Suite tool as needed). If you already use these other tools often, and you’re not in need of an advanced survey or form tool, you might be able to squeeze some value out of Google Forms.

As we said, Google Forms is incredibly simplistic, and can enable you to “get your feet wet” in terms of creating surveys and organizing the data collected from them.

When presenting or delivering surveys using Google Forms, you have a number of options: You can deliver them via email, embed them on your website, or provide a link to them via social media and other means.

As with other G Suite tools, there are a number of third-party add-ons that integrate with Google Forms, as well. These tools can enhance your data collection and analysis capabilities far beyond what Forms is capable of on its own.

As just mentioned, as your knowledge and understanding of surveys and related data becomes more advanced, Google Forms may alone may not provide for your growing needs. While, as we said, there are a number of add-ons available, they’re certainly no substitute for the other options mentioned on this list.

Another major drawback of Google Forms is that it’s not nearly as customizable as most users would like. Basically, Forms provides a selection of stock photos to choose from as a header, and then coordinates the form’s color theme to fit the photo. While you can upload your own image, that’s about as far as you can go in terms of thematic customization.

Lastly, Google Forms doesn’t allow users to create “Welcome” or “Thank You” pages to present to their respondents, which detracts from the user-focused nature of such surveys. For one thing, the lack of a “Welcome” page takes away the company’s ability to provide instruction and alignment for the respondent. On the other side of the equation, a lack of a “Thank You” page restricts the surveyor’s ability to show gratitude to those who took the time to complete the survey in the first place.
